Is Lark Covered by Insurance?

The cost of the Lark health coaching platform is dependent on one's insurance coverage. Lark Health is currently a contracted and covered insurance benefit for many millions of individual consumers in the United States under a variety of health plans.

What Version of Lark Does Insurance Cover?

  1. Diabetes Prevention: Lark is free to consumers as a covered benefit if they are at risk for Type 2 Diabetes (Pre diabetes). Starting in 2015 and 2016, a number of national plans and employer-based health plans started covering diabetes prevention programs including Lark to help offset the high costs of Type 2 Diabetes once developed.   2. Diabetes Care: Lark is free to consumers as a covered benefit if they have Type 2 Diabetes. Starting in 2017 and expanding in 2018 and 2019, a number of national, state-level, and employer-based health plans started bringing eligibility to large sections of their members. To find out if you are eligible, please ask your employer, check for an e-mail about Lark, check your health insurance portal, or simply Google “Lark” plus the name of your health plan to find the landing page.

  3. Hypertension Care: Lark is free to consumers as a covered benefit if they have Hypertension (of varying levels of severity). Starting in 2018 and expanding in 2019, a number of national, state-level, and employer-based health plans started bringing eligibility to large sections of their members.   4. Wellness: Lark is free to consumers as a Wellness benefit by a number of national, state level, and employer-based health plans. If your insurance / health plan does not cover Lark's preventive benefit, then there may be self-pay options available. Lark also offers a basic version of health coaching in the App Store for both Android and iOS which is $19.95 per month for the advanced nutrition, activity, stress management, and sleep coaching features. The consumer self-pay cost for the Lark App does not include any connected devices that are sponsored by and bundled with the Lark Coach as part of one's health benefits or the advanced, clinical A.I and human coach components associated with the covered versions. Most consumers choose to do a benefits check to determine whether they are one of the millions who receive Lark as a covered insurance benefit.

What Devices does Insurance Cover?

The preventive insurance benefit for Prediabetes covers a digital scale that connects directly to your Lark Coach, as well as a Fitbit. In addition to receiving those devices as part of the program, you can sync one of the 110 other connected devices that Lark offers as part of it’s bring-your-own-device policy.

The Diabetes and Hypertension Care benefits cover the Lark connected Glucometer with unlimited test strips, the Lark connected digital scale, and/or the Lark connected blood pressure cuff.
